Summertime Activities

Last weekend, our ward had an activity to celebrate Pioneer Day.
It's awesome that even though we're not in Utah, we still take the time to recognize the pioneers and their sacrifices that they made.

We had a great time playing all sorts of games with all our friends from the ward and then eating a ton of delicious food!
Doesn't get much better than that during the summertime!

Here's Lawson and Daddy playing the first game, the stick pull...
I'll let you guess who won.
(Hint: Lawson totally "dominated" Daddy!)
Check out how stylin' Lawson was!
He's all of a sudden become very opinionated on what he wears and he was very insistent on wearing his Broncos hat and sunglasses at first.
Once he got in on all the game action he decided to ditch the hat and sunglasses though.
Funny kid...

Here's Daddy and Lawson running the 3-legged race with the other kids.
(Needless to say, Mommy had to sit out on all of these games...bummer!)
It turned into Travis mostly dragging Lawson beside him but Lawson was a trooper!

By the end of the race he was pretty ready to get his leg all back to himself though...

Next, Lawson and his friend Max tried racing together.
It didn't last very long before they were both kinda freaking out because neither could really walk at all.
Oh well, maybe next year we'll have better success!

Up next came the potato sack race.
I figured Lawson would love this game because I swear the kid is always jumping everywhere he goes.
And go figure the one time he's suppose to jump a ton he freaks out.
Must be the huge white bag we tried stuffing him in...

After the kid's round it was time for the men!
You can definitely tell how serious Travis took this race based on his face in the picture.
Priceless...
(Oh, and Travis won by the way!)

Next came the pie eating contest that Travis somehow got dragged into!
He wasn't feeling very good afterwards...
It was a pretty big pie!

After all the games were over, we ate some yummy grilled hot dogs and fresh watermelon.
And then came to pie judging contest.
I swear there were about 25 different homemade pies to choose from...
It was awesome!

We love getting out and doing fun stuff like this with our friends here.
It's so great knowing how well we fit in here and that we know this is where we're suppose to be right now in our lives.
Summertime doesn't get much better!
