Our 4th of July celebration this year was perfect.
We had a ton of fun doing what we love...going to the beach!
What's better than the 4th of July and the beach?!
We decided after breakfast to brave the beaches of Galveston in hopes that they weren't too crowded.
We were decently surprised...they weren't that packed at all!
(The hardest part was finding a parking spot along the Seawall but that's always a nightmare)
After picking out a good spot that didn't have too much seaweed and didn't smell too bad we headed out for some play time in the sand.
For some reason, Lawson loves sand.
Playing in it and eating it.
Can't really tell here but his mouth is full of sand and even a seashell he decided to munch on.
Weird kid...
This trip to the beach we decided to bust out the Frisbee for the first time!
I forgot how much fun playing Frisbee is!
It's been too long since my Ultimate Frisbee playing days during my freshman year at BYU I guess...
Lawson loved it.
He actually got decently good at catching it.
Throwing it was a different story....
We'll have to work on his trowing skills throughout the summer!
And of course Lawson had to venture out and check out the waves...
He loved Daddy picking him up to jump over all of them!
After spending a few hours at the beach we decided to head home to catch up on some rest before heading out again for more festivities.
So later that night, we met up with a bunch of friends for the Galveston 4th of July parade.
Thankfully, Galveston decided this year to have the parade at 7:30 PM to spare us all from the ridiculous heat during the day.
(Boy am I glad they made that decision!)
Here's Lawson playing with a few of his friends before the parade actually started.
He loves himself some good sidewalk chalk and friends!
Here's Lawson and all his friends again waiting for the parade to start!
Gotta love their little American flags waving in the air!
Poor Lawson, Mommy made him stop playing for 2 seconds to take a picture with her...
:)
Lawson wasn't quite sure what to think of the parade.
In fact this is what he spent almost the entire parade doing...
Just standing and staring!
He finally decided to grab a few pieces of candy and beads with a lot of encouragement from me and Travis.
But then it was back to the staring...
After the parade, we all headed down to the beach again to set up for the fireworks!
We had about an hour or so until they started so the kids had fun running around on the beach while the rest of us just relaxed and chatted.
The fireworks were great to watch over the beach!
Lawson had never seen fireworks before so it was back to the standing and staring for him.
He seriously sat completely still during the entire show and was just mesmerized.
But we know he loved them because he's been talking about them all day today :)
So yeah, it was the perfect 4th of July celebration...
Beach, friends, parades, fireworks!
Doesn't get much better than that.
We love the 4th of July...
And I love my family!
