So last week Lawson and I totally ditched Travis for an entire week to go on a vacation to Mexico!
The best part?
We went with Travis's family.
Yup, we went on vacation with Travis's family but without him.
Now that Travis is in "big boy school" he can't take a week off from classes to go on Spring Break.
But mine and Lawson's schedule was wide open!
So naturally we decided to take off even without him :)
Lawson absolutely loved the beach.
I think he mainly just loves the freedom he can experience there.
Plenty of open space to run around and tons of water to play in!

Around the resort we stay at they have tons of iguanas that just hang around and sunbathe.
Lawson saw these the first day we were there and immediately ran up to them.
Here he is waving at them and saying "Hi!" over and over again.
Every day after that we would have to stop and say hi to any animal he saw.
He wasn't too fond of the sand at first.
Here he is trying to brush the sand off of his feet.
Needless to say, he was definitely fighting a losing battle...
One day while hanging out with Travis's dad (aka Grandad), Lawson spotted a toy booth that sold these balls.
Well Lawson must have his Grandad wrapped pretty tightly around his finger because Grandad just couldn't say no when Lawson kept asking for one.
Lawson made sure to keep his Grandad pretty busy playing catch and being thrown up the air over and over again to toss his ball.
Once Lawson got used to the sand he loved playing with all his beach toys.
In fact, he made a little friend with the boy next to us because he had some pretty awesome toys as well.
His Aunt Emma was a great play buddy as well!
For some reason, Lawson loved eating the sand and stuffing his mouth full of rocks.
The kid won't eat fruit but he'll eat sand?!
Weirdo...

He loved jumping up and down in the water and splashing as big as he could.
The bigger the splash and the wetter he could get the better!

The resort we stay at as these professional photographers that come around and take pictures of you with various animals.
Well last year here is the picture we took...
And so this year when I saw the photographers with the monkey again we definitely had to get another pictures!
A new Mexico tradition?!
I think yes.
Lawson even got to hold it this year and thought it was so cool.
He just kept saying "monkey! monkey! monkey!" over and over.
Love it!
It was a great week filled with tons of beach play, swimming, sun tanning, some awesome food, unlimited smoothie drinks, and lots of family time.
I guess the only thing really missing was Travis being there with us!
