Wow...
Our whole life as we know it has been completely changed today.
I'm honestly still in shock and can't believe what is happening to us...
Travis has finally been accepted to medical school!
This has been such a long and extremely trying experience for us.
Even as I'm writing this, fresh tears are falling down my face.
(I just can't stop crying!!! Don't worry, these are good tears)
We thought for sure that Travis wasn't going to be getting in this year.
So sure in fact that we dropped $800 dollars just last week to start applying again.
(Oh well, life goes on...)
Travis interviewed at 3 schools last fall:
University of Texas Medical Branch (in Galveston, TX), St. Louis University, and University of Colorado.
We really, really wanted CU in order to be closer to both of our families but they told us no a while ago which was extremely difficult for us and completely puzzled us.
In fact, it took me quite a while to accept the fact that we wouldn't be going to medical school here in CO and it definitely wasn't an easy process.
And then both UTMB and St. Louis put him on their waiting list.
Great...
When we heard this news from UTMB they said in their email that their wait list consisted of about 200 students and they generally accepted about 15 off the list each year.
Ok, well that pretty much ruled out UTMB because what were the odds that we would be one of those 15???
So that left St. Louis.
Long story short, Travis has done a lot of sucking up to SLU for several months and we still had gotten no reply.
Therefore, we felt that we needed to go ahead and start the application process again for next year because it was looking like we weren't going to be getting accepted this year at all.
Well, Heavenly Father must work in mysterious ways because Travis got a short little email today congratulating him on his acceptance into medical school!
So where are we going???
The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX!
Yep, that's right.
We were one of the lucky 15 out of 200 students waiting.
Like I said, we still can't believe this is happening.
It's crazy how you can wake up one morning with your life one way and by that afternoon your entire life has 100% completely changed and everything is completely different.
(This is a very good kind of different though!)
So yeah, looks like we're heading to Texas!
Crazy....
Here's what our home for at least the next 4 years is going to look like:
For those who don't know, Galveston is about an hour outside Houston on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
(Yay for a beach!)
And here's a picture of part of UTMB's campus and where Travis will be spending a lot of his time:
Not too bad, eh?
We're so excited for this journey to begin.
We're so thankful and especially grateful to our Heavenly Father for
looking out for us and for giving us this opportunity.
We both know that this is where we're suppose to be and what we're suppose to be doing.
Yay, yay, yay!!!

Hooray! So happy for you and your cute little family! Funny how Heavenly Father has a plan for us, even when we just can't seem to make sense of things.
Oh my Congrats. I feel your excitement. When my Hubby and I were engaged he was put on the University of Utah waiting list for pharmacy school and we thought the same thing that you felt with UTMB. He happened to get a phone call on April Fools day congratulating him on his acceptance into the school because someone had been dropped out. It took me a few minutes to really believe him but I must say that day was one of our happiest. I am so glad your hubby got accepted into Medical School. That really is exciting news!!! I love reading your blog and don't usually comment, but that is too good of news to just read and not respond!
YAY YAY YAY!!! I'm so excited for you guys. We're applying there as well so maybe we'll be there next year....let us know how you like it ;-)
We are so.....happy...proud...and...sad, but know you will have a great experience because of your positive attitude and faith in Heavenly Father. Good thing we have skype and phones :) Love you all -- Mami
Congratulations! You will absolutely LOVE Texas. When do you move?
My computer was being a dumb machine last night and wouldn't let me comment, but SO EXCITING that Travis got into medical school. I am so so so happy for you guys. And best part is that you get to come down here to Texas! You will always have a place to stay in Dallas if Brenton gets a job after his internship, cross your fingers!!
Congrats Travis!! Glad to hear you'll be joining us in Texas, although we'll be 4 hours away in Dallas. Maybe if we strike gold (any amazingly pay off our loans??) we will drop by in Galveston to take a cruise ship :)
