Yes, I know that Thanksgiving was a week ago today but I'm just now getting around to posting about it because I didn't feel like blogging on my vacation...
So here we go!
As mentioned earlier, we start Thanksgiving day with the annual Turkey Bowl.
And then we head over to the church for our big feast!
(With over 50 people in your family you've gotta have the church...)
There was so much food...
And you better believe that we all stuffed ourselves crazy full.
Even Lawson.
He loved the jello, potatoes and rolls.
After eating we all take a little rest or play some games.
Knock Out and Werewolf are absolute musts.
(Which can kinda get crazy when 50 people are trying to play...)
There's also a ton of board games and card games going on.
Pretty much there's something for everyone!
After our stomachs settle a little bit it's time for the annual pie eating contest!
Basically, you each get a piece of pie and see who can snarf it down the fastest without using their hands.
And since there's so many people we're divided into age groups starting with the youngest.
Look who got to start things off this year...
Hahahahaha this just makes me laugh so hard!
It was hilarious watching Lawson and his cousin, Cohen.
They honestly had no idea what was going on and why everyone was making such a big deal about it...
After a little hesitation they both finally decided to try a little bit out for themselves...
And then their mommies got bored and decided to smash it in their faces to help them out a little bit!
Lawson was not too happy about having a pie smashed in his face.
Maybe next year he'll get the hang of it a little bit more!
When it was time for the "unmarried group" of older cousins someone yelled out that the winner was the next that was going to get married...
Funny how that made some of them really want to win and some of them really want to lose!
And so of course, when it was this "married group" of cousins so yelled out that the winner was the next to have a baby...
Working hard to see who it's gonna be...
Guess who won?!
Travis.
And guess who came in second?!
Me.
Hahahaha "too bad" we found out just 2 days later that someone else in the group had already beaten us to the punch!
Darn...
:)
So after the pie eating contest we bust out the real pies and all fill ourselves completely full all over again.
And then it's back to the games or scoping out the Black Friday ads or writing to the family missionaries, etc.
Pretty much we all just hang out all night long and it's pretty fun!
Thanksgiving with the Anderson family has quickly become one of my favorite traditions.
There's nothing better than spending the day with your family and being thankful for all you have!
