Manassa Celebration

Guess what?
Here in Colorado we get to celebrate the 24th of July Pioneer Day like all you Utah folk!

For the celebration weekend we headed down to good old Manassa, CO.
Manassa is a little small town in southern CO that was settled by
Mormon pioneers back in the days of Brigham Young.
(Hence the reason for celebrating Pioneer Day...)

So every year on the 24th of July, the whole Anderson family heads to Travis's
grandma's house in Manassa for a family reunion!

It's pretty crazy because this year we had around 40 people but we love all getting together.
There's nothing better than multiple parades, carnival rides (especially the Zipper!), fireworks, BBQ, the famous Manassa hamburger stand, lots of Rook, late night parties, charity golf tournaments, the Amish bake sale, and of course the 5k race!

We decided to run the race as a family this year...Lawson included!

Here we are coming in at the end!

Lawson doesn't look extremely happy here but he didn't whine or cry the entire race
which is pretty good considering 2/3 of the race is on dirt roads...
He caught some pretty good air at some points!

Here's the entire group from our family that ran this year.
The rest of our family are slackers!
:)

Here's the whole group for this year!

Finally, we decided to get a four generation picture.
It's pretty crazy how fast time goes!

So thanks Manassa and Anderson family for a great 24th weekend!
We're pretty sad because we're not sure when we'll be able to make it back because of moving to Texas.
We're sure going to miss this...

The Bouvangs LOVE the Anderson family! We are so grateful for the way they have accepted Katelyn into their family. Love the 4 generations.
