Favorite Weekend of the Year

Memorial Day weekend is by far one of my favorite weekends of the entire year.

There's nothing better than celebrating the beginning of summer with some nice BBQs, lots of friends and family, and of course some much needed sunshine!

Travis had a four day weekend because he has Fridays off anyway so we decided to head out of town up to the mountains to Glenwood Springs. 

Glenwood Springs is only about 2.5 hours from us so it was the perfect little weekend getaway!

We started our weekend by going to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park which is 

a theme park on the top of the mountain there.

We had to ride these big gondola things up the mountain and the view was gorgeous!

 Riding the alpine slide down the mountain together. 

Travis refused to ever use the brakes so we got cruising pretty fast!

 Lawson got to chill in his stroller all day long.

He wasn't complaining at all!

 They had this box thing that was about 10x10 feet and had a maze inside that required you to crawl through.

I only lasted about 2 seconds before my claustrophobia kicked in.

Travis gave it a pretty good try but ended up giving up after this first tight squeeze corner.

 This was by far our favorite part of the adventure park.

This swing swung us out over a canyon that fell several hundred feet below us.

We were nearly upside down at the swing's highest.

Crazy fun!

 Travis and I even tried our hand at the mechanical bull.

Both of us were able to last pretty long!

 The next day we hung out at the hot springs which they've made a swimming pool out of for a while.

This was probably Lawson's favorite part of the trip.

It was basically like taking a bath for several hours for him...

He sure does loves that warm water!

Not too sure yet about floating on his back...

 I sure do love my two boys!

 He loved floating on his stomach.

But then all of a sudden he took a nose dive and stuck his face in the water...

When he came up he didn't seem upset and then he kept doing it over and over.

Funny kid!

Next, we threw Lawson in the backpack and took a little hike up the
mountain to this beautiful place, Hanging Lake.

 Such a pretty hike in the spring time.

The water was gorgeous and the weather was perfect!

 Lawson loved his little backpack.

Especially when we were coming back down the mountain.

He was talking and babbling at the top of his lungs the whole way down.

I love my kid!

We ended the weekend on Monday by spending nearly all day out in the sun, an 

awesome family BBQ, and some more swimming together.

Lets just say that we are loving our summer so far!
